Adewale Osifeso, the spokesman for the Oyo State police, confirmed that 35 minors had been killed in the stampede. Additionally, six others sustained critical injuries and are receiving medical treatment. Osifeso also stated that the case has been transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, with the Deputy Commissioner of Police leading the investigation.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, in a statement on X, confirmed the incident and assured that investigations are ongoing. The primary organizers of the event have been taken into custody, and security forces were quickly deployed to prevent further casualties. The event has since been canceled, and all remaining attendees have been safely evacuated.
