Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Faryal Talpur streamlined the party’s potential candidate list for the 2024 general elections on Friday.

In Karachi, Talpur has narrowed down the candidates to three for each constituency in anticipation of the upcoming polls. According to informed sources, she will also undertake the task of shortlisting PPP candidates from regions including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, and Larkana. The final decision on candidate selection, however, will rest with her brother, Asif Ali Zardari, former President of Pakistan.

As February 8 approaches, the PPP is actively engaging in its election campaign. In a separate development, Asif Ali Zardari has established various committees to engage with influential political figures, commonly referred to as ‘electables’, to strengthen the party’s position for the 2024 elections.

These committees, formed for dialogue with politicians, include members assigned to different provinces. Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Faisal Karim Kundi, Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, and Sajid Toori are appointed for the committees in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Sindh, the committee comprises Saeed Ghani and Nasir Hussain Shah, while in Baluchistan, Chengez Khan Jamali, Rozi Khan Kakar, and Sabir Ali Baloch are the designated members.
