Islamabad, 24 May 2025: In a decisive move to address international concerns and uphold national dignity, Pakistan’s federal government has introduced stringent measures targeting individuals deported from foreign countries. The latest crackdown on repatriated individuals underscores a firm policy shift as the country cracks down on deportees.

The announcement followed a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad.

In a landmark decision during the meeting, it was resolved that First Information Reports (FIRs) would be filed against deported individuals upon their return.

Additionally, their passports are to be revoked, and their names included in the passport control list for a five-year period.

The Interior Ministry stated that these actions aim to discourage misuse of travel documentation and ensure accountability for violations abroad.

The Interior Minister stressed that those returning under forced deportation bring dishonour to the country’s image and reputation.

He reportedly stated that no leniency would be shown towards such individuals in the future.

To enhance the robustness of travel document protocols, a committee led by the Interior Secretary has been established.

This body has been tasked with reviewing and tightening existing passport regulations to prevent abuse of the system.

The committee’s recommendations are expected to lead to more stringent vetting processes and the introduction of new safeguards to prevent unauthorised or fraudulent travel.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, along with the Secretary of the Interior, the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Director General of the Passport Office.

These officials pledged full support in implementing the new directives.

This sweeping initiative signals a determined effort by the Pakistani government to restore integrity in its immigration and travel systems, especially as it cracks down on deportees who have previously embarrassed the country on international platforms.
