Lahore police arrest six more ‘terrorists’ escaping from Zaman Park: CCPO Lahore
LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Lahore police have taken into custody some more ‘terrorists’ who were fleeing from the Zaman Park residence of former prime minister Imran Khan.
Since Thursday, police have arrested 14 saboteurs who tried to escape from the Zaman Park residence of Imran Khan.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Saddique Kamyana claimed this on Friday.
Kamyana said that four of the alleged “terrorists” were involved in the attack on Askari Tower and two of them were among those who ruined the Corps Commander House in Lahore.
Lahore Police have announced these arrests two days after the caretaker information minister for Punjab Amir Mir claimed on Wednesday that 30-40 terrorists were hiding in the Zaman Park residence of Imran Khan.
On Thursday, Mir said that eight “terrorists” had been arrested when they were escaping from Lahore’s Zaman Park area.
He claimed that the detained terrorists have already been identified and they were allegedly involved in the attack on the Lahore Corps Commander House on May 9.
Punjab government’s team to meet Imran Khan to discuss search operation
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has decided to send its team to Zaman Park to meet former prime minister Imran Khan for a search operation of his residence.
Thus, the Punjab government has changed its stance on the operation at the Zaman Park residence of Imran Khan to recover terrorists.
Caretaker Information Minister in Punjab Amir Mir told the media that the security officials will conduct a search operation at Zaman Park after getting permission from Imran Khan. He also said that the search operation will be carried out in front of cameras to apprehend “terrorists”.
“We have decided that instead of a head-on collision, we will send a delegation to Imran Khan under the supervision of the Lahore commissioner,” Mir said.
Earlier, on behalf of the Punjab government, Mir announced a 24-hour deadline for the PTI chief on Wednesday to hand over to police about “30-40 terrorists” hiding inside Zaman Park. The deadline expired on Thursday at 2 pm, but the police did not take action change due to a change in the policy of the government.
Information Minister said that the Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi conducted a meeting and it was decided that a delegation meet Imran Khan after getting an appointment from him after Friday prayers.
“They will ask him [Khan] to allow them to conduct a search operation. A police party — comprising 400 personnel — will accompany the delegation as there is a reported presence of terrorists,” he said.
