Peshawar Weather Update: Thunderstorms, Strong Winds Expected

Islamabad, 30 May 2025:  Peshawar Weather reports continued light to moderate rainfall in the city and surrounding districts, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting further precipitation and stormy weather across much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over the next 24 hours. Peshawar Weather alerts indicate unsettled atmospheric conditions throughout the province.

Rainfall Persists Across Peshawar and Surrounding Districts

Peshawar Weather updates confirmed that intermittent rain showers continued across the provincial capital, as well as in nearby areas.

The Met Office stated that areas including Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Dir, and Chitral are likely to experience further rainfall.

This extended wet spell has cooled temperatures slightly in some parts while raising concerns of localized flooding in low-lying regions.

Thunderstorms and Hail Forecast in Several KP Regions

In its regional weather advisory, the Meteorological Department warned that thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are expected in Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Abbottabad, Haripur, and Mansehra.

Similar storm activity is likely in Battagram, Torghar, Kohistan, Bannu, Kohat, and Orakzai, among other areas. Isolated incidents of hailstorms have also been predicted in parts of the province.

The department added that Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Kurram, Tank, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan may also witness intense weather conditions, which could impact transport and daily routines.

These alerts have been issued to advise local authorities and residents to take precautionary measures.

Rainfall and Temperature Readings

Recent rainfall data shows:

  • Landi Kotal received 17 mm of rain
  • Pattan recorded 9 mm
  • Kalam noted 3 mm

In terms of temperature:

  • Peshawar recorded a minimum of 24°C, while the maximum rose to 39°C
  • The lowest temperature in the province was 12°C, observed in Kalam and Malam Jabba
  • In contrast, the highest temperature is expected to reach 44°C in DI Khan

Advisory for Residents

Authorities are urging the public to stay informed through official channels and limit unnecessary travel during storm alerts.

Agricultural workers and those in remote or mountainous areas are particularly advised to remain cautious due to the risk of hail and mudslides.

The Met Office will continue to monitor the system and issue updates as conditions develop.
