Islamabad, 24 May 2025: In a significant step towards restoring its global network, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has confirmed the launch of a new weekly direct flight service connecting Lahore and Paris. The announcement highlights renewed momentum in PIA Flight Operations as the airline works to regain international credibility and customer trust.
This move marks a fresh chapter for the national carrier as it rebuilds its presence in European airspace. According to an official statement issued on Thursday, the direct flight service from Lahore to the French capital will begin on June 18, operating once a week with departures scheduled for Wednesdays.

The introduction of this non-stop route is part of PIA’s phased return to European destinations, following a prolonged suspension triggered by regulatory setbacks.
Return Made Possible After EU Ban Lifted
The relaunch of PIA Flight Operations to Europe was made possible after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) lifted a four-year-long ban.
The ban, imposed in July 2020, stemmed from a high-profile investigation into unverified pilot licences, which had raised serious safety concerns among European regulators. The airline resumed its first post-ban European route in January, linking Islamabad to Paris.
Catering to Multiple Passenger Segments
Airline representatives stated that the new Lahore-Paris route has been strategically planned to accommodate a diverse range of travellers, including business professionals, tourists, and members of the Pakistani diaspora residing in France and nearby European countries.
Officials believe the direct link will significantly reduce travel time and offer greater convenience to passengers flying between Pakistan and France.

PIA Flight Operations continue to expand cautiously, aiming to meet international standards while reconnecting Pakistan to major global cities.
