Islamabad, June: In a significant development, Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani (Retd) has tendered his resignation as the Chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on Friday, citing personal reasons. This marks a notable WAPDA Chairman resignation in 2025, concluding his tenure at the helm of the crucial national institution.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has acknowledged and appreciated Lt. General Ghani’s dedicated services to WAPDA.
The Prime Minister lauded his instrumental role in effectively managing the authority. Also, overseeing several major projects within the country’s vital energy sector.

The resignation has been forwarded to the Cabinet Division for formal approval.
Lt. General Ghani is a distinguished civil engineer and soldier. He was appointed as the 23rd Chairman of WAPDA for a five-year term in 2022.
During his leadership, he played a pivotal role in advancing key water and power initiatives. The WAPDA Chairman’s Resignation 2025 comes after nearly three years of service.
